On December 15-16, 2020, the Arab States Research and Education Network (ASREN) hosted the e-AGE20 conference in a virtual format. This 10th edition of the International Platform on Integrating Arab e-Infrastructure in a Global Environment was themed "Power of e-Infrastructures - Shaping the Future of Online Research and Education." The event aimed to provide a forum for sharing practices and experiences that go beyond teaching online courses and sharing resources in unprecedented isolation.
The two-day conference featured 30 renowned speakers and experts from the global research and education community. The presenters shared their experiences and debated complex global phenomena and scientific challenges, particularly focusing on the role of e-Infrastructures during the COVID-19 pandemic.
e-AGE20 included various events, workshops, and meetings centered around themes such as the e-AGE Annual Conference, the 13th Event on Euro-Mediterranean e-Infrastructure, the 10th Annual Shareholders Meeting of ASREN, and project meetings for EUMEDCONNECT3 and AfricaConnect3. Additionally, virtual workshops dedicated to NRENs and their communities were held, including sessions on LIBSENSE, ORCID, and Routing Security.
The conference opened with a high-level roundtable discussion on "Working Globally," featuring CEOs of Regional Research and Education Networks from around the world. Other sessions covered topics like Global Support, Regional and Global R&E Communities, and Open Science and Open Access.
The event was open and free to the research and education community, providing a crucial platform for linking and sharing experiences and ideas, setting the stage for future gatherings like e-AGE21.
